WASHINGTON – Venus Williams says LeBron James would look good in a Miami Heat uniform.

Williams spoke at the National Press Club on Wednesday promoting her new book and James was one of the topics she touched on during a question-and-answer session.

The Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., resident endorsed Miami as a new home for James, the prize of this year’s NBA free-agent class.

“I’m from Florida, so Miami certainly is the best place,” Williams said. “I actually have a slide show prepared, if he wants to watch, on why. But I’m sure he’ll make the right decision.”

The quote above was from the Metro website, which you can check up on Goolge. But I am pretty sure the sticking point was not getting an endorsement from Venus Williams, as much as playing with the most stacked lineup in NBA history.

And don’t argue that somehow the Lakers lineup of Gary Payton, Karl Malone, Shaq & Kobe was better, since those old legs couldn’t beat the Clippers if they had to play them in the finals.

It isn’t clear whether the pay-cut assumes that they are trying to lure Lebron James to the Heat to join them, but currently Bosh & Wade have decided to play together.

It was rumored Chris Bosh was planning to go where Lebron James ended up signing with, but the rumors were squashed when Chris Bosh said he didn’t want to play with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Chris Broussard of ESPN has reported that it seems that around the league, the thought is that Lebron James’ current decision is whether he wants to play alongside Wade and Bosh, or if he decides to stay with his hometown team.

From the Wham: Lindsay Lohan Jail Time

Lindsay Lohan has to go to jail on July 20th, and burst  into tears after her judge handed the child-star-turned-socialite the news.

The 24-year old Lohan has to spend 90 days in the slammer, plus 90 days in a substance abuse rehabilitation program, said Judge Marsha Revel.

Even before being told of her fate, Ms. Lohan had mentioned to the judge of her remorse for her actions.

“I am not taking this as a joke. This is my life.”

A source close to Lindsay had this to say about Lohan during the court ruling:

“Lindsay went into court ready to take responsibility for her actions, but she was not expecting to serve jail time at the end of it. She really did take everything seriously, and is just freaking out right now. It’s just really, really harsh.”

Maybe this will clean her up, and shape her life up to be better. She should be glad she is taking the traditional punishment of jail-time and not the pity-party you get after going bald and attacking paparazzi. Lohan still has a career to salvage after she gets out.

Troy Tulowitzki Injury July News Update:

There was pretty much no news on Colorado Rockies outfielder Mr. Tulo since the middle of June. Yahoo Fantasy Baseball and Rotowire writers didn’t have much news, but apparently the Denver Post got the story on how Tulowitkzi’s wrist been faring.

What does Troy’s injury mean for the Rockies?

Not much and a lot. Not much since they have been three games over .500 since June 20th. Their offense, with Troy Tulowitzki in the lineup, has been very erratic. With Dexter Fowler coming into the mix, and with Clint Barnes knocking people home in the 8th spot, they still look like a very dangerous team with new players stepping up in Coors and driving runs.

Tulo’s absence hurts the Rockies because of his defense and his bat. With Todd Helton and Brad Hawpe struggling, you can’t expect the role players to keep the Rockies strong throughout the Summer. Tulowitzki needs that wrist injury to heal up fast so he can come help the Rockies for the pennant stretch.

Troy Tulowitzki’s injury and Fantasy Owners

I have Troy Tulowitzki on my fantasy team, and have been offered many trades since he went down. My advice to fantasy baseball geeks out there in the same predicament: Keep Tulowitzki if you are making the playoffs or have a small amount of “2nd-half” hitters on your team (the Vottos, Beltres, & Carlos Penas of the world).

If you are having trouble getting into the playoff matches for fantasy baseball, you may want to look at replacing tulowitzki immediately. Getting something like Rafael Furcal or even getting a pitcher and plucking another SS off fantasy waivers could be more helpful to winning now if you need to win now.

But know this: Don’t expect Troy Tulowitzki back and in “playing” condition until Mid-August. Also, remember that wrist injuries, even the psychological experience, can keep a hitter from his full potential for a bit after he returns.

• If Amare Stoudamire gets traded, it will draw off another young talent that the west sorely is lacking going into the second decade of the 21st century. It showed a lot in this game, as the game play of Gasol, Billips, Duncan, and Nash was very lack-luster and slow. The west is still the best, but other than Kevin Durant, Deron Williams, and ‘Melo, the pool of old men in the pacific don’t bode well for the long-term success of those teams.

• Caron Butler helps the Mavs, and hurts the argument a little. But the West just looked slower and older than the East.
• The end of the game was probably the most ridiculous thing I’ve seen in years. With 12 seconds left in a tied game, Deron Williams fouls Dwayne Wade putting him at the line. With the East having a two point lead, the West gets to the line on the next possession on a random foul by Dwight Howard on Novitzki, who ties the game back up. The subsequent foul on Chris Bosh was somewhat decent, but that had to be the worst sequence of plays and mistakes you could ever witness.

• Oh, Shakira. I think she is a little hyped, but there are just those moments where she has enough skin to bring me right back. Alicia Keys as well:

• I don’t know if anyone can confirm this, but did they have Steve Nash singing Boyz II Men on the big screen in the 4th quarter? I have to find this video.

• TNT named Kobe Bryant the player of the decade. Kenny Smith disagrees, saying that Shaq had more years of greatness during this decade than Kobe. Have to agree; Kobe has gotten beat by many different players, and the one non-Shaq ring he won was against the Magic. He would need to beat LeBron in the Finals; the Magic were not legit enough a fight, and we all know this.

• One has to wonder how much the NBA harnesses it’s image to be more diverse. The game is diverse, but the marketing still seems to be built around black people. I am black myself, but you have to wonder how much good they are doing to get some goodwill to the non-black demographic. It isn’t the game, but the entertainment and the commercials that speak to what I am saying.
• I think in the future, they have to look at how their advertisers are speaking to their audience. I hate when people think the NBA is “too urban” or “too black”; but I do see the error in the NBA’s marketing campaign that may exacerbate it.
• Kobe didn’t  play. The West is getting a little old, people. He’s 31, but he’s a veteran 31. Have to wonder about the accumulation of these injuries the last 2-3 years.
