Who is the Closer for the Reds Now Madsen is Out?

Ryan Madsen is done for the season for the Reds as they have found some very severe damage to his elbow and wil receive Tommy John surgery, ending his 2012 campaign.

For now, it looks as if Sean Marshall will get the closing opportunities for now. Don’t look at this at as a long-term solution, especially if the Red compete heavily in a contentious NL Central.

Devin Mesoraco Scouting Report (2012 & Beyond)

March 20th 2012

Here is one tibdit we have of what Mesoraco has done before coming to the Reds:

“Here is what we know: he went from a busted prospect to A- stud in two years with a little plate discipline and he has 53 major league plate appearances”.

The little plate discipline sounds ominous, considering it doesn’t become a bad thing until someone hits the majors.
